Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statueDaily Success May 23 again managed an “Okay.” A very short stint on the treadmill would have pushed that into “solid” Okay, but that seemed unimportant late last evening. Today, I can see that three days of substandard walking distance have caused my running average calories consumed estimate to drop into the pink zone. That is the worst that number has been since April 7th. I have to get back to being serious about keeping my promise to myself about keeping that distance higher.

All that self-flagellation aside, I put (educated guess) three or four hours into the “this is what Elijah must do” effort. It was, I think, worth it. Whether or not he will make a promise to himself (kinda easy) and then force himself to keep that promise (damned hard as I know from personal experience) is open to a ton of questions. The key is to keep telling him that if he wants it, he may be able to get it, but if he doesn’t try all the prayers in the universe will not help him even a little bit.

Going back to April, I see that I finished my latest “virtual Camino” on April 29th. Only 23 days later, I’m 167 kilometers (103.6 miles) into my next one.

Today has a LOT of medical activities in the way of exercise: three medical appointments: laser / physical therapy at 10:15; three medical appointments: dentist at 11:00; and sciatica injections at 3:00. At least the physical therapy is pleasant. The dental work is uncomfortable, and the injections are outright unpleasant.

Lots on my plate in addition to all that: the upstairs porch floor, My Camino Day August 5 2021, walking, and finishing my leg strength exercises to mention but a few. Thus, there is no time for me to fiddle with this Daily Success post.
