Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statueDaily Success June 18 is an “out of the park” “Outstanding” because of an excellent training hike on the Muddy Branch Trail. It totaled out at 16.3 kilometers (10.1 miles) with almost 160 meters (525 feet) of net climb. We still haven’t located the beginning of the trail, but we now know where it is.

My hike didn’t get to the end of the trail at the Izaak Walton Society, either, as I was taken by a tremendous thirst that led me to drink all of my water (1.25 liters) much more quickly than expected. Continuing thirst led to a deviation to a place in the neighborhood that sells beer.

That thirst led to a surprise 1 kilogram (about 2 pounds) jump in my weight this morning.

But back to the hike. The key takeaway from it is that I managed something pretty representative of a two star Camino stage, Lezama to Bilbao, for example, without trouble. The plan is working. Now all that is needed is a few more good training hikes over the next two weeks.

There is much to do on SurveyorBot, but I think the draft project plan may be ready to show to Jan today and to circulate to the team on Monday. That’s a good goal.

Today, like the next 17 days, must include a lot of focus to get the important stuff done.
