Yesterday was a rousing success, at least in the sense of when I next set foot on El Camino. I managed to live up to three promises that I made to myself.
First, and probably most importantly, I kept the Internet / social media / doom scrolling news sites monster under control. Despite almost constant temptation and an untold number of “almost” clicks, I got through the day without a single slip.
Second, I managed to meet my somewhat reduced exercise goals for the day – lighter weights, fewer reps, not the entire set of exercises in honor of easing back into things as the medical team wants – and am only slightly sore this morning.
Third, I spent the time and effort on the Camino website, work that it needs if it is ever to be seen by the millions of “more experienced” people it is intended to entertain, inform, and, yes, inspire to join me and the untold thousands of other peregrinos on an external Camino experience of their own.
Today is off to a good start, stretches done and the time lingering over the WaPo was reasonable. I’ve done some good Camino website work already. My resistance is holding the Internet monster at bay, but the pull is strong.
