Daily Success April 7 is hard to judge. Yesterday was actually pretty good on exercise and the website but it follows three days of mixed results. Those mixed results were tied to the joy of having house guests during that time and making the conscious decision to focus on friends rather than longer term goals.
The Camino is very important to me and getting there in July is at the top of my “to work at” list, but there is more to life than continuing one wonderful journey and I embraced that for a couple days. Now it’s time to get back to work!
All that noted, progress on the Camino website has gained a real asset in the form of questions and comments from an imaginary Internet Friend, DblDomer7375 of ndnation. He took a look at the site and provided some great questions and suggestions. Now I’m working to use them in creating some of the introductory material I’ve long known the site needs.
I’ve already started a small series of narrated pictures in PowerPoint to put on my YouTube page. Next, I’ll create the videos themselves, create an introductory page or post or two, and link those videos onto the site.
Being 77 years old means that there has been some wear and tear on my body and I’ll share a bit on dealing with that as it’s an important part of my preparation for arriving on The Way on or about July 10th. This is a lot of exercise, which I’ve documented fairly well on these Daily Success posts. It’s also stretches. Some of the stretches and some of the exercises are actually continuations of physical therapy “stuff” that various practitioners have assigned or suggested over the years.
And then, there is the direct medical care. Dr. Friedman, my cardiologist of many years standing, seemed to think I needed his agreement to undertake the next leg of my Camino journey when I saw him several weeks ago. It was just one of our regular care examinations, I was not asking for his opinion, and he fortunately decided that he didn’t object to the idea. I’m now three knee injections into the five injection series and my knee pain is much reduced. I’ve got an appointment with Dr. Sheikh for sciatica mitigation injections, on both sides this time, on the 25th. Finally I’ve got a laser appointment with Monika at Dr. Sherman’s office for my right shoulder and lower back on Friday of next week and with Dr. Sherman for my left ankle on the 18th.
If I can do this, YOU can do this. And at this stage of our lives, we must ask ourselves a key question: “If not now, when?”
