Daily Success April 25 done got me another “Outstanding!” Walking distance and exercise had a lot to do with that score, but, again, success overall was enabled by staying away from the Internet time-suck sites.
I miss the oxytocin those sites give me, but the time lost to learning nothing is just too much.
Today is planned to be a wonderful day. That was true when the only thing on my agenda was Dr. Sheikh sticking his needles in my back to get the sciatica eased up. Now, however, there’s also a plan for a “walk and talk” with my great friend Ty this afternoon. A LOT of happy in that as we’ve not had much chance to get together in far too many months.
But on to yesterday. I did get a Daily Success posted and did a lot of work on other posts, mostly FAQs, that will show up “soon.” Those posts are a bit of a problem, too, because I get to looking at my pictures from actually being in Spain and hiking the Camino and spend far, far too much time fiddling working to find EXACTLY the right picture … and reliving those moments. The picture, of course, does not exist. I think reliving those moments produces a lot of oxytocin.
An interesting aspect of that reliving. I was reminded of one of my Camino friends, a fellow named Roman, who I met back in 2021. He was navigating our small group, a total of three with a fellow named Eddy added in, when we got lost. That will be a “My Camino Day” post that will be a lot of fun to do, but is not even started as yet.
But on to Roman. Nice guy. Russian. Young. He had a tattoo that honored the Soviet Union. When I thought of him yesterday, the context of the war in Ukraine and his potential military service there, came to mind. There is no way to inquire as I never knew his last name or any detail of where he was from beyond Russia. No idea about his background or education beyond his excellent English.
He was a very friendly guy, enjoying the day and his Camino Journey. He even stopped to chat for a bit with a woman who lived next to The Way; the rest of us waited for him to finish talking with her.
I hope he’s ok.
