Daily Success June 8 just falls into that “how to score something totally off-subject from the system: A and I spent yesterday checking out of the Airbnb in Chicago, visiting Northwestern, and traveling to the Airbnb in Gary, Indiana. All exercise was tied to following a student guide around campus.
I’m not linking either of the Airbnb locations. Chicago was a really nice place in an interesting neighborhood, but the host simply did not answer important questions quickly enough to smooth the process of staying there. The one in Gary is, simply, substandard. Jan would have refused to stay here. My comparison point is the municipal albergue in Cadavedo, which cost about five Euros for the night.
Northwestern was very nice. It suffered, however, from following the University of Chicago Tuesday. Both the University itself and the student guide were simply in a league of their own. Of the more than a dozen such tours I’ve now participated in, and these included Notre Dame and Pitt, none could compete with the Chicago tour. As the fellow said when the yacht America neared the finish line in … , “Ah, may it please your Majesty, there is no second.”
Today is Valpo, tonight back at this poor excuse for an Airbnb, then Indiana University Northwest Campus on Friday before a return to Massillon on Friday and home Saturday.
