Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statueDaily Success October 28

Daily Success October 28 is “Okay.” Much of yesterday was dedicated to painting the upstairs porch. Another chunk went to working on a solid response to Sam’s irrational belief that, somehow, I arbitrarily caused the cost problem that he has on the SurveyorBot contract. Both were necessary, if undesirable, interruptions in life.

There is also the continuing pain problem. I tried a stretch that Monika suggested yesterday, did it very gingerly as it was similar to the ones from the Internet that seemed to cause a lot of trouble, and am glad I kept it to a minimum. Even with a very careful approach, the negative effects I felt immediately after trying it are still sensible this morning.

Today

The main task for today is to get the porch paint done, or at least a second coat applied. That will be time-consuming and considerably less than pleasant, but it’s truly necessary. I miss Don. He may have been a pain in the butt from time to time, but he was a good friend and, more in my awareness at the moment, a guy I could count on to take care of things like the porch.

Importantly, Notre Dame plays Pitt at 3:30 PM. I must have the painting out of the way if I’m to watch the game with a focus on exercise rather than figuring out how to get the painting done.

The Future

No real progress on the “what next” front, although a variety of American Pilgrims on the Camino events are capturing my attention. An exploration of the American Pilgrims website led me to the Capitol Area Chapter, and I’ve made an inquiry about what is going on locally.

The important thing, for me at least, is for the carrot of another leg of my Journey to remain viable to inspire and justify all the work involved in keeping my body ready.
