Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statueDaily Success November 5

Daily Success November 5 is “Outstanding” by a wide margin. There is nothing like football on TV, especially a Notre Dame game, to keep me in the gym and, especially, on the bike. The results of the game left a bit to be desired, however …

Yesterday was good in some other ways as well. Jan is happy with the upstairs porch paint, so today will see the railings back in place and the final job cleanup. A major job, one that has lingered for months, will finally be in the rearview mirror.

We’ll have to look at the swing to decide whether to tidy it up or replace it. It’s suffered a lot of weather damage over many years. And, in addition, I need to come up with a plan for reducing the wind / rain / snow / ice flow pattern that has torn that porch floor up time and time again. The floor cannot survive with that flow pattern battering it.

Another accomplishment, or half of one, I edited my “I am not finished” post to make it much closer to what I want.

Another good thing yesterday: I ordered a new Camino Passport from American Pilgrims. There are three routes that look attractive: Arles, Voie Littorale, and Madrid. Any of the three should work well in September, a timing that looks likely as the customer has decided to discuss the reality of his problems and how I might be able to help in a reasonable way.

The dreams resume.

Today

Today, the Washington Submissives play the New England Patriots, two teams that have no real shot at the playoffs already this season. A meaningless game except for coaching staff job retention. Still, it will keep me on the bike. That’s enough.

Hopefully I’ll get the porch buttoned up and start on the next Harry Homeowner chore. We have a list to choose from …

The Future

The desire is still strong.

If I agree to bail the customer out of his mess, and I’m starting to think I probably will, the next leg of My Camino Journey will probably be in September or even October of 2024. In the meantime, I’m really thinking about the March gathering in San Antonio, mingling with other peregrinos, spending some nights in something like an albergue, and taking hospitalero training.

We will see.
