Daily Success November 25
Daily Success November 25 is “Failed.”
The Failed designation is a bit harsh as I was truly under the weather with a cold yesterday. Feeling miserable is not a help for getting some exercise. The little I did get, about 20 minutes on the bike in 10-minute increments, was because I was cold and wanted to be a bit warmer.
Beyond that Failed, however, was a productive day at the computer. I did get a LOT done, including starting work on the next memo documenting the SWAP for the SurveyorBot. It will be interesting. Plus, some success entering books into my database and carting them up to the Library. So much to do on that side of things!
Today
There is football on TV all afternoon, but the ND game is streaming only on a platform I’m neither signed up for nor interested in beyond today’s game. Worse, the kickoff is at 7 PM, which means it will run to well after my bedtime. Add it all up and that’s a solid “pass.”
Plus, Stanford isn’t all that good this year AND ND is not in the playoff hunt.
Chores and more work on both the book collection and the websites and I’m busy all day.
The Future
I haven’t heard back from the hospitalero training folks about legitimate albergue claims. That’s a hitch in my gitalong, but I did do some looking back. Over the four years and 880 kilometers (550 miles) I stayed at at least six albergues that seem to qualify without question: Albergue de peregrinos del Monasterio de Sobrado dos Monxes; Albergue de peregrinos de Cadavedo; La Cabaña del Abuelo Peuto Hostel; Albergue de peregrinos Santa Ana; Monasterio de Zenarruza; and Albergue San Martín. The municipal albergue in Cadavedo was particularly interesting for its “mama – niña” battle (you have to go to the last video on the page).
The albergue before the hill that worried me so much in ’22 was donativo, but I think it was privately owned. Then there was a (I’m pretty sure) municipal albergue installed in the same general facility as a sailing school. That one was a unique experience that I will write about sooner or later. Probably later …
If I don’t hear back from the American Pilgrim folks, I’m going to sign up “at risk” on Monday or Tuesday.
In “other news” about the future, I’m seeing Monika on Monday with my back still far from right. I’m doing everything I’m supposed to do, but the improvement has slowed or even reversed. Last Thursday was bad. Was it bad because my back is not getting better or because of the cold (which seemed to have some effects beyond the cold).
The good news is that I can live with it like it is. The bad news is that I can’t hike the Camino with it like it is. My whole “walk everywhere” lifestyle is very much at risk.
