Daily Success December 28 – Failed. I’m actually a day early in getting back to my Daily Success posts as I noted on the 21st that there would not be any until the 29th because of John and Thad being here plus the party on Christmas Day.
I dropped John and Thad off at Baltimore Washington International Airport at about 5:45 this morning and am now working to get things back into their normal (hah!) flow.
Yesterday
Yesterday was a fine day with son and grandson in residence. Little actually happened as they seemed to prefer quiet time rather than activities. We did go to the Tastee Diner in Bethesda as John seemed to want to relive a bit of his past and show Thad where he ate regularly when he was installing cabinets at the National Institutes of Health and the Bethesda Naval Hospital.
I did get my third shot in my left knee yesterday. The knee proceeded to reward me with real pain both from the knee itself and, I’m almost certain, from sciatica. It was raining yesterday, an all-day rain that followed a rainy Tuesday. There is a pattern here.
Today
Today will be mostly dedicated to chores and getting my desk cleaned up. Some exercise and stretching will (hopefully) be included.
The Future
Tomorrow starts with Monika for the last appointment in my piriformis efforts. I will start today’s exercise with 10 minutes on the treadmill to see how that goes. Then I can report it tomorrow.
American Pilgrims sent an email yesterday looking for volunteers for the Ribadiso Albergue in 2024. It’s a 15-day commitment, either the first half of the month or the second half. The season begins May 15th and ends on October 15th. The deadline for applications is January 31st. I’m strongly leaning toward volunteering; a lean that will be confirmed or contradicted by how my piriformis and sciatica and left knee respond to treatment and time. If I can hike, I want to hike. If I can’t, volunteering at an albergue is probably the next best thing. Not having had hospitalero training (waitlisted for March) Ribadiso is probably the only option for 2024.
