Daily Success February 1 – Outstanding. Not a lot of margin, and I did go back and do just one more set of leg strength reps to be sure, but clearly Outstanding nonetheless. The new scoring system on whiskey even kicked in a couple points.
Yesterday
Yesterday still had an unreasonable amount of time devoted to Sam. Now, however, I have some specific tasking with the goal of finalizing things next week. I can live with that. And the nice feature is that, as I pull all the background together, it is really clear that Sam has a very serious problem that (in his typical fashion) he has not shared with Vince.
I got a lot of exercise in as well. My walking was only a half mile because of pain, but other than that, things went very well, indeed. The bike provided two warm up sessions because I was cold and those two made getting to the calorie goal fairly easy.
Yesterday was also the first day I’ve really been back using the new computer steadily for a day. Doing that included seeing the desktop that I had selected for it, a picture of me on the Camino in 2022. I love that picture. I love that I could be who I was in that picture. I want to be who I was in that picture again. I was assured, confident, content, very much at peace, and fully engaged in the simple life of a peregrino. I remember a fellow peregrino offering to take my picture and agreeing somewhat hesitantly as I was doing selfies, but the set he took are a joy to look at.
I cannot identify what it is I am searching for, but I am sure that the search itself, the journey, the Camino itself is at its core. Soy peregrino.
Today
Today has Monika at 10 and Nabila’s mail as my only outside activities. Getting the material Allen needs pulled together is the biggest task. That will leave plenty of time for exercise and, hopefully, some good progress on the website.
I have a decision to make. Part of that website effort would have been the August 4th, 2018 PowerPoint that I have “almost” ready. However, I did a little editing on old posts yesterday and did August 4th, ‘18 as part of fixing search engine optimization errors. Scrolling through the post, I found that I had already discussed the material I was putting in the PowerPoint, so it really has no purpose. That must be reviewed and straightened out.
The Future
The fog is stubborn. The knee and piriformis and whatever it is with the muscle on the outside of my thigh are fighting against my desire to walk significant distances again. There seems to be progress, but it is painfully slow.
No word as yet on hospitalero training nor on Ribadiso. None expected yet, but the Ribadiso application window closed yesterday, so that decision might come in the next week or two.
In the meantime, “keep on keeping on,” I guess. At the same time, it may be time for “keeping on” to include a knee replacement. I truly dread that possibility as I’ve got a little insight into the surgery and rehab and the violence that the process imposes on the entire knee. I don’t fear a lot of stuff, but I fear that.
