Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success February 2 – Okay. With optimist scoring and a tiny bit more effort, it could have been Very Good. A solid Okay, however.

Yesterday

Yesterday was only slightly affected by Monika and Nabila. A brief trip to the grocery store and some other chores also took a little time. But all that was minor.
I did put in good time in the gym and a lot of time, and mental stress, going back through the SurveyorBot and SAGEbot emails and documenting what happened and what, therefore, is mine. It’s a solid story. Painful to work on, but solid. My mind recoiled more than once, but the gym helped.

I did respond to an email from American Pilgrims asking for Spanish speaker volunteers at the Gathering with willingness to serve but limited Spanish skills. We shall see.

I did manage to stay away from the Internet Monster. That is very difficult when working at the computer on something that I flat do not want to do, something painful. Without that, however, I’d be in Disappointing territory.

In other news about yesterday, the pain from that group of pain sources that is my body from lumbar spine down through my left leg to the skin on my left foot, brought me to my knees yesterday afternoon. I could barely walk, so much so that Jan commented on my trip from the stairs to the kitchen. I ended up taking two 800 mg ibuprofens, one in the afternoon and one at bedtime (which was early last evening). I wondered at the time if rain was coming, but my cell phone said nice weather for the week. Thus, the pain could not be being caused by an approaching rainy day.

Realizing that the pain was from a cause other than the weather, and that it was a very bad spell with the knee, whatever it is with my thigh, piriformis, and sciatica all clearly involved, was dispiriting, indeed.

Today

Early today, I looked out the window and saw a wet backyard. It rained over the night.

Today is Cliff’s thing in the morning, I do enjoy it, and Monika this afternoon. Other than that, I simply have to finish the first draft of the SurveyorBot / SAGEbot “this is mine” document.

The Future

I’m signed up for another injection next to my spine on Wednesday next week as the pain, including what I’m convinced is a sciatica component, is debilitating. This morning a call saying my insurance would not cover another injection until mid-April. I asked how much and was told just under $500. Thus, I will (hopefully) trade some pain in my wallet for some pain in my body.

Sigh.

There is no progress on any of the other fronts in my life, so the mists surrounding the future remain thick. That said, the possibility of a vacation in Arles with an optional continuation along the Camino from there remains stuck in my head.
