Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success February 7 – Outstanding. Second day in a row and the second day of slightly better than the absolute minimum score for Outstanding. And I got to it without having to go back to the gym for “just a little more.” No points for whiskey control, however.

Yesterday

Yesterday still had a lot of time on the Sam mess, albeit significantly less. There was also a very good session with Larry. And a significant chunk of time invested in studying the prescriptions I take.

I have a never-ending problem with muscle discomfort, cramps, and that kind of thing. It’s mostly focused in my legs with some lower back involvement, especially on the left side. This is frustrating because of my really solid exercise routines. Yes, muscles feel this way when one does something strenuous and new, but that should pass. This hasn’t.

During my Monday appointment with Monika, I asked her if this discomfort might be tied to some of the prescriptions I take, especially the atorvastatin calcium, which is what led to needing the CoQ10. She said yes, so a chunk of time yesterday was devoted to starting a study of that possibility.

It turns out that five of my prescriptions, all from my cardiac folks and four from the same doctor, list these kinds of things as side effects. I’ve reached out to my cardiologist to begin the process of finding a better approach. And this is important! The problems with my legs, especially in the morning, make me unsteady and sometimes cause problems going down the stairs.

Today

Thinking about my two Outstanding scores in a row led me in an odd direction. The high scores are for exercise and Daily Success posts. Those are important, but I simply must get back to work on my YouTube channel and My Camino Day posts. That begins today.

The big item on the calendar, however, is an injection from Dr. Sheikh. Hopefully, it will stave off more of the sciatica pain and help with what we’ve been calling piriformis. The piriformis tingling is pretty much gone and so the problem with walking any distance may be the nerve coming out of my spine. The sudden, stabbing, pain all down my leg, which has been far less frequent since the last shot, is surely the sciatica.

Plus, of course, exercise. And at least a half hour with Rosetta Stone practicing my Spanish so that I’ll be kinda-sorta ready for meeting the folks from Spain at the Gathering.

The fly in the day’s ointment is Sam. Allen spoke with Vince yesterday. Vince threw out a lot of numbers. Allen told Vince to put it in writing. I await that with scant, if any, hope for actual progress.

The Future

Larry is not available next week, so we are on a “week after” schedule for the moment. I don’t like that.

No news on hospitalero training or Ribadiso. Hopes for the injection will start to be realized over the next week. Then there is the written “offer” expected from Sam.

Lovely. Just lovely.
