Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success July 24 – Very Good. An optimist could look at my success yesterday and score it as “Outstanding,” but my glasses don’t have quite enough rose color in them to get there.

Yesterday

Daily success yesterday was close to Outstanding because of two things: a 10 point allowance for injury, well deserved because my left knee and sciatica preclude walking any distance; and 10 points for posting “My Camino Day 8/2 to 8/4 2021”. Both are proper, but the injury didn’t keep me from peddling more on the bike and the post was not as good as I like them to be.

The problem with the post was strategic. I’m working hard to standardize the structure of my posts, each one being specific to the general topic. Each one is also being optimized for search engines. Each one is also being designed to please me in the sense of being proud of the post. That “My Camino Day” post had to be squeezed between and kinda sorta into several others that have been done over the years and nothing really fit correctly.

On the bright side, This should not be a major problem going forward. I hope.

Things were actually good on the exercise and physical therapy side of things. All in all a very good day.

Today

Daily success today depends mostly on focus. There are a lot of things to do including some chores, arranging a car and a conceptual plan for our last week in Paris (easily a rabbit warren that must be avoided), and organizational efforts for the SAGEbot effort going forward. Plus exercise and physical therapy. The PT focus will be on my core strength, not my shoulder. Part of my strategy is to really separate these things so that muscles have a day to recover between conditioning sessions. That means adjusting things so that my artificial shoulder exercises that have been part of core have to be dropped. And more core exercises have to be added.

The Future

Daily success in the future feels very good as I started work on the SAGEbot plan yesterday and was very pleased with the results. Today is to develop a draft “go forward” plan that we can use for strategizing, managing the effort, and soliciting the help of others.

France, of course, is getting VERY close; just over a week until we leave. The river cruise begins on August 8th. It’s exciting.
