Daily Success September 10 – Very Good.
Daily Success Yesterday
Daily success yesterday was about exercise, some progress on Project Pinecone, and two Daily Success posts. It seems I wrote the post for September 8 but didn’t upload or publish it. The ten points lost drove my September 9 score down from Very Good to Okay, so it seems fair to add five of the points, half of those lost, to today.
Some health stuff was included as well, the first of five knee injections from Elaina at Dr. Higgins’ office plus flu and COVID vaccines at Giant. All in all, perhaps an hour and a half invested in regaining function and not getting sick in the future.
Unfortunately, the exhaustion imp stopped by once again and that led to a lengthy nap. Time lost, but in a necessary cause.
There is, however, news: I walked from home to Giant, did some shopping and got my shots, and walked home without noticeable pain, just a little lower back muscle complaints about doing more than usual. This is huge progress. It is exciting and leads, immediately, to fantasies of carrying my backpack on The Way once again.
It is critical that excessive optimism be held in check until things are more solid, but it is exciting.
Daily Success Today
Daily success today should be good. My body was very unhappy with me this morning, lots of aches and pains. Some of them are easily identified, the injection sites for the flu and COVID vaccines for example. Others are clearly due to getting back to an exercise routine that has been lying fallow for some weeks. Some are just there for no apparent reason. The aches did interfere with my sleep last night, so the exhaustion imp (from Deviant Art) is looking over my shoulder.
All those things add to the challenge, but there is little to interfere with real progress.
There is little on the schedule to interfere with making progress, just a telcon with Tim to go over the Project Pinecone guidelines regarding a possible resource and poker at Joel’s place. Poker will prevent me from watching the presidential debate. Weep for that I do not.
Daily Success in the Future
Daily success in the future looks exciting. If the doctors have found a treatment plan for my back related pain that will work, so very much more is suddenly possible! Should I consider Arles as a starting point? It must be far enough from Santiago to make getting there once again impossible. Not unlikely, IMPOSSIBLE!
Too soon. Too soon.
I leave for Iowa and hospitalero training on Friday. The information from American Pilgrims about local hikes is suddenly significant! I don’t think I’m ready to try 5 miles or more, but one or two casual hikes around the conference center property would be fantastic.
And Project Pinecone is starting to make a little sense, if in a really daunting way.
