Daily Success September 13-17 2024
Daily Success September 13-17 – Very Good.
Daily success from Friday through Monday seemed qualified for a Very Good score, despite a complete lack of exercise or stretches. Why? Because it was dedicated to getting me back to el Camino in a new and different way, as an hospitalero. That would be my chance to give back some of what el Camino de Santiago has given to me by serving other pilgrims.
My efforts all four days were driven by travel to and from Hiawatha, Iowa and hospitalero training provided by American Pilgrims on the Camino. Travel on Friday was tolerable, but it led directly into the start of training on Friday afternoon. Travel home on Monday dominated the day such that nothing else was within my capability. Training Friday afternoon, all day Saturday, and Sunday until late afternoon consumed any time and energy I might have had left.
The training was outstanding. The outcome was wonderful as I have been welcomed into the community of trained hospitaleros.
Importantly, this was also time with other peregrinos. It is more like a family than is easily understood. We share a bond and a knowledge that is very, very special, one that those who have not traveled el Camino cannot understand or share.
Next comes the question of volunteering at an albergue. Time will be an issue with all the work Project Pinecone needs. Health, ditto, as I must be honest with the folks recruiting hospitaleros about my age and infirmities. And, of course, money and all the many other things I want to do.
We shall see.
Daily Success Today
Daily success today looks very hard to accomplish. There are a lot of emails to catch up on. I’m still tired from the efforts required over the last four days.
Focus. Don’t try to do more than is possible, clear the decks for real work to begin tomorrow.
Daily Success in the Future
Daily success in the future no longer includes hospitalero training. Now it includes, I hope, service as an hospitalero.
Tomorrow is my second shot in the five shot knee series; Elaina will do the honors in the AM. The afternoon includes an hour with Larry. Other than that, things should be good for real progress on Project Pinecone.
A bit further out is the results of the new MRI and Xray set on my back. Will that lead to an end to the pain? We shall see. In the meantime, Dr. Sheikh’s injections have made things tolerable.
