Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success December 20 – Very Good. Importantly, this will be my last Daily Success post until after Christmas. Too much going on.

Daily Success Yesterday

Success yesterday was clearly better than Okay as there was real progress on San Martín in the form of reading the Guide very carefully and documenting a few questions for Priscilla and Piers. None of them are terribly important. There was decent work on Spanish as well, theory rather than practice, but viewing the instructions for the Imperfect Tense for yet another time. Slowly, slowly, it starts to make sense and enlighten me on what Rosetta Stone was working to communicate.

Beyond those two, there was also good work done on Project Pinecone, solid stretches, and solid exercise. None were extreme, but a Very Good day, nonetheless.

Success Today

Success today has real headwinds to face. These begin with getting Christmas Cards into envelopes, together with all of the related tasks: writing notes in the cards and my Christmas Letter; going to the Post Office for Christmas stamps; going to Joel’s for the Notre Dame football game this evening. Lots to do in a standard sized day.

I’m skipping Cliff’s thing at the Empress without a second thought, because it is just impossible. And for the pleasure I get from it, it’s not hard to skip. While I like most of the folks there and the conversation is often good, “most” and “often” are not “all” and “always.”

Success in the Future

Success in the future includes limited expectations for the time from now until January 2nd. That’s just the reality of the Holiday Season. Jan and I don’t have any specific plans, aside from spending a quiet Christmas Day at home and a drive to Selinsgrove to spend New Year’s Day with my brother and all the family members that show up there. Despite those small scale plans, the season is filled with folks being on holiday breaks, vacations, and all sorts of other things. It’s also filled with distractions that range from reading the notes from friends that are included in their cards to keeping track of “one last great deal,” especially in the days of expecting tariffs to add to the price of all imported things.

The results are already written on the wind. Relax, enjoy, do my best, and be ready for a full attack in 2025.
