Daily Success: January 16 – My total distance yesterday was ok, nothing horrible. Exercise looks worse than it was as I was part way through both Leg and Core before long phone calls from two of the kids interrupted progress. That being true, it was still my lack of resolve that led to being behind on my tracking spreadsheet.
“Lack of resolve.” That is where things are at this point. The deepest of the gloom seems to have abated a bit but all progress is just an act of will. Even that is somewhat deceptive. One of the things on the list is to get rid of stuff that no longer has value for me, so some of that is in progress, but it really is a fallback because it is easy mentally and the time passes.
Looking at my pictures from 2018 in preparation for my next “My Camino Day” does feel good. In trying out a new piece of software extracts the location data from photos, I got the exact spot where I turned up the dirt road as an act of … what? Courage? … in 2018 on Bing Maps. It was an unforgettable moment, and reliving it in memory feels very good, indeed.
Working on that new “My Camino Day” should be a priority today as it would hopefully take my mind off the ablations tomorrow. They, well the two-sided procedure that will address both sides of my heart, weigh upon my mind. As an alternative, the weather should be nice today. Perhaps a long walk outside would be a better approach as such walks tend to clear my mind a bit and lift my spirit.
But the key is really simple: My goal and plan is to return to Cadavedo in early July. There is a price to pay for that wondrous experience. That price includes my Leg and Core exercises today as well as a minimum of almost 8 kilometers (5 miles) outside or 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) in the treadmill with the slope set to 5%. That exercise must come as soon as this post is complete.
