Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success January 20 – Failed.

Yesterday

Yesterday's plans were wrecked by the snowYesterday had plans: 7:30 AM get to the place to have my blood drawn. Closed until 10 due to the snow. 9:00 AM, Monica. She could not get to the office because of the snow and a neighbor’s stuck car. 11:30 AM take Jan to the surgical center and wait. Fun.

The snowblower was not in the mood to start, so I did a lot of hand shoveling and brooming the snow from the porch and steps. Then it managed to get in the mood, I pushed the priming pump while turning the engine over and that did it, so I fixed the alley and blew the snow from some neighbor’s areas. I also cleared some of the general use parking areas.

Then an email from Vince for more of the endless fiddling with Sam. I’ve prepared a simple response telling him that I’m meeting with Allen next week. The goal is to let them know I’ve arrived at the end of my rope on this.

Today

Saturday. The day is open. Football this afternoon. After weighing in 7 pounds heavier than when I arrived home from Spain, the routine of “eat less, exercise more” must be restored. It works, but only if one works at it.

The Future

Who knows? Rising this morning, I found it impossible to bend my left knee more than a few degrees while getting out of bed. Plans for titanium began to form immediately as yesterday was demanding, lots of work on the legs and back dealing with snow, but not extreme. Well, I didn’t think it was extreme.

Then I was up and moving and the leg said “ok, let’s do it.” It feels better now than any recent day with the possible exception of Thursday.

But the fog looking forward is dense indeed: Sam holds the key to my leisure. The knee holds the key to my freedom of movement. My back holds the key to my ability to act and live as I want.

We shall see. Clarity, at least on the Sam front, must come within days. I’m done.
