Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success April 15 – Very Good. Could I have claimed better? Maybe, but this is a solid score. Could I have done better? Yes. My score could have been improved had I “felt the burn” to push myself.

Yesterday

Yesterday was a quiet Sunday. Pancakes and bacon for brunch, exercise, physical therapy, and moving forward a bit on things.

My shoulder remains quite painful at any moment and can go into full “I hate you” mode at the first sign of rain, and one must admit that getting back to full operation is more than a day or two in the future. Early June would be three months since the surgery. Early September would be six. Three to six months is the schedule I’ve found.

The treadmill contributed a mile and 125 calories to my day. At that point, my back was already in full rebellion. It’s angry this morning. My thinking is to see Monika on Tuesday, but to add Dr. Swistak into the treatment plan as well. This appears to be back related but not the nerve Dr. Sheikh treats. Maybe an adjustment or three will resolve things.

One thing is crystal clear: getting on the Camino requires me to be confident in ten miles per day, not hoping for one. Until this is resolved, “wishin’ and hopin’” is not going to help anything. While I might, emphasis “might,” know about the back at any moment, the shoulder is probably a serious issue well into the summer.

Having accepted that setting foot on el Camino is unlikely before late summer, say August, planning for the rest of the time between now and then can get rolling. I found a “wow” sale on European river cruises and passed it along to Jan. We’ve talked about such excursions and one of these might fit very well with a slightly longer European vacation. We shall see.

Today

Today features physical therapy at Dr. Higgins’ office. Other than that, exercise, some work on my Spanish to better qualify for hospitalero duties (which I must admit to myself may be the limit of my future Camino Journey), and serious effort on this website with special attention to preparing more YouTube material and getting it uploaded.

The Future

The future looks mostly like doctors. Physical therapy at Dr. Higgins’ office tomorrow, more PT with Monika on Tuesday, my six-week follow-up with Eliana at Dr. Higgins’ office on Wednesday, and more PT at Dr. Higgins’ office on Friday.

My guess, emphasis “guess,” is that Jon will file the provisional patent paperwork in the next day or two. My plan is to follow that up with a LinkedIn post celebrating that step that will surely be read by some of my SurveyorBot / SAGEbot contacts. Things should start to get interesting after that.
