Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success December 13 is “Failed.” It is clear that the days of hitting Very Good or Outstanding on a regular basis are gone. Is this temporary or permanent? Only time will tell.

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.”

Yesterday

Yesterday was a confused mess. Some things got done, but others did not. My concentration was simply awful and pleasant distractions, mostly working on the Christmas letter and getting lost in memories of happier times, were a balm. An amazing part of preparing the letter was how pain dominated many of my Camino journal entries. That, somehow, had faded from memory.

Among my other screw-ups for the day was missing the SurveyorBot weekly tag-up entirely. I was lost in the Christmas letter and just failed in another thing for the day. My “Failed” rating was earned in more places than preparing for the next leg of my Camino Journey.

One bright spot is that Jennifer, A, Coops, and Pat have all let me know that they are ok with my explosion at the party on Saturday.

Today

Today includes a visit with Dr. Higgins to discuss, and hopefully begin to treat, my left knee. Finding a way to reconnect with Larry Harper as the key goal. Below those two critical things, there are exercise, Camino planning, SurveyorBot promises to keep, some chores, and beginning real SAGEbot preparation.

The Future

Who knows? We’ll see what Higgins says. We’ll see if we can reconnect with Larry, which I believe is necessary if we are to be able to avoid having to choose between disasters. Whether or not the piriformis in my back continues its almost microscopic progress is also important, of course. The Cleveland Clinic’s reassurance that it will “go away in a few days or weeks with rest and simple treatments” rings hollow after months of effort.

Lovely. Just lovely. Just …
