Daily Success February 13 – Failed.
Daily Success Yesterday
Success yesterday was the second disaster, I mean “Failed,” in a row. The absolutely necessary 1.5-hour nap in the middle of the afternoon certainly contributed to that, but the real culprit was total disarray for the entire day’s activity. Interruption followed interruption. My focus did not exist. Nothing was accomplished.
Well, not exactly nothing. Part of the day’s disarray was tied to an excellent Project Pinecone technical discussion at the weekly Zoom. Lise and Paul worked hard, once again, to set me straight. The result is a lot of rework that makes accomplishment seem to be zero when it is actually a bit better than that.
Success Today
Success today is to get back to the things that are important: family; el Camino and the health and exercise requirements it imposes on me; approaching the future with excitement and optimism despite the news; and finding a way to focus on Project Pinecone’s function without considering its purpose beyond a very superficial note.
The nature of unexploded ordnance, landmines, explosive booby traps, and all that is ugly. That ugliness has to stay abstract or I start to become either obsessed with it, depressed because of it, or both. Concentrate on how to fix the problem, not what the problem is.
Focus on getting my work done. Start with the overview for Jon. Finish that. Then the Finance Plan. Finish that.
Success in the Future
Success in the future depends on focus. Finish the patent paper for Jon today and the future begins with the Finance Plan tomorrow. Prepare for San Martín. Prepare for seeing Mae Ling in Barcelona. Adapt my travel plans and let Julian know what the new approach is. That probably includes an email to Salvador and Tonia to let them know we’ll be in town for a few days here or there.
Focus: there are only a few main goals. El Camino and inspiring others of my demographic to join me in using a challenging prize to inspire the battle against the forces of aging; Project Pinecone in the hope that children and their families will be safer because of my work; and family because family is always the most important thing.
