Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success Yesterday

Success yesterday suffered from what has become a common problem: insufficient variations in my activities. Once again, that was too much Project Pinecone and not enough exercise other than the stationary bike. My bad.

Success Today

Success today, as seems every day, is about keeping my focus on the big picture rather than just Pinecone. It is hard to do for a variety of reasons, the greatest of which is that the more I learn about the horrors of the explosives war leaves behind, the more important Project Pinecone becomes.

And Project Pinecone must receive its share today and tomorrow because I’ve promised a deliverable to Jon Monday morning. There is much to do and little time to do it. Especially since we will be going to Bill’s and Paula’s home to watch the Super Bowl. Will Patrick Mahomes outshine Jaylan Hurts or will Jaylan prevail? Will the Chiefs emerge victorious with their to be storied “three-peat” or will the Eagles successfully deny them that towering achievement? Will Travis Kelce propose to Taylor Swift as the confetti falls, regardless of the winner?

Time will tell …

Success in the Future

Success in the future is much more complicated today than it was a week ago, yet more or less unchanged.

San Martín travel seemingly must change. The obvious choice is to fly to and from Spain via Barcelona rather than Madrid so that Julian will not be facing the added complexity of a houseguest at the same time they are mourning Jorge’s passing. This will mean missing a visit with treasured friends on this trip, but treasured friends are exactly the people whose lives one wants to ease rather than burden and now is a time that I can only be a burden.

El Camino may change as well. My knee held up well during a significant walk on Thursday. If I am in Barcelona early and late, perhaps a few kilometers would be in order. There will be some challenges there as well, most notably luggage and where to leave it for a few days early and late. That seems within my skillset.
Then there is Project Pinecone. Working on the material for Lise, the Finance Plan, and Jon makes it clear just how far we have to go and what we must do in the next couple years if we are to succeed.

It is a challenge I embrace.
