Daily Success January 21 – Outstanding.
Daily Success Yesterday
Success yesterday did not feel as though my score was anything above abject failure. Notre Dame’s defeat in the National Championship Game was painful. The political shift and initial actions of the incoming administration are a source of grief.
The scoreboard for my day says “Outstanding” because of the way it is designed to emphasize my goals as I have stated them to myself. My focus must stay with that.
But beyond those goals, it is time for me to be more aware of opportunities to confront ugliness where it appears. That is hard for me. It is not something easily added to my scoring system as a means of keeping my focus on something larger than myself.
Success Today
Success today has plenty of challenges. The first of these is simply getting over the disappointments of yesterday. Compounding that are two doctors’ visits this afternoon, both in the same building but separated in time by hours, and a Zoom with Codie that may or may not be a wild goose chase.
Focus. Start with focus on two things: Project Pinecone and el Camino de Santiago. Both are good and true.
Success in the Future
Success in the future is still bright, even if the view from today is cold (literally and figuratively) and grey (figuratively). Focusing on the good after yesterday is very hard, indeed. But that is why we do these things, is it not.
