Daily Success March 11 – Okay. Somehow the day got completely away from me and then there was on time to do what I’ve promised myself I’m going to do. Had things gone slightly differently after dinner, I’d have been down in the “Disappointing” range. Today must be better.
Yesterday
Yesterday involved an amazing amount of fiddle-faddle, pecking at things but not really doing anything. Part of that is sudden, and horrible, news about a friend and neighbor’s health: vigorous 49-year-old guy with the quintessential American family suddenly at death’s door due to sepsis. There is little we can do beyond give money and spread the word, so the money is given, and the word is being shouted from the rooftops. I doubt that anyone reads these musings, but if you do, please consider donating a few dollars to help Chris, and his family, out.
A huge bright spot was an email from a fellow Domer telling of how my ndnation back room posts about the Camino and the Gathering inspired him. He made a late dash to attend, and I think he got the spot that opened up when I had to cancel because of the surgery. He had a great time and is planning to start his own Journey a year or so from now. I feel successful! And am already planning to attend next year.
Today
Today will be a bit better than yesterday because I’m going to keep my focus. I’m also heading to Dr. Higgins’ office for physical therapy at 12:30. Poli-Sci, exercise, stand by for Tim’s answer, rehab exercises.
The Future
The future continues to look bright. I seem to have more range on the treadmill. The bike is a fast way to work up a serious sweat and burn some calories, PT and getting up and down for stretches seems doable enough. I am staring at pictures of the Camino once again.
Part of the future’s hopeful image is my right shoulder. It’s a long way from back in service, but it’s also much, much better than I expected at this point. My left knee is also as happy as it’s been in a long time. My legs have strength on the bike. I suspect that all this good news will be revised starting tomorrow because I take my last prednisone today.
