Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success March 5 – Outstanding. A lot of hard work, focusing on avoiding the Internet Monster, and intentionally not angsting about the situation with Sam left plenty of time for exercise, preparation for surgery, and Poli-Sci.

Yesterday

Yesterday was quiet. A trip to Giant for a prescription needed for post-surgery day #1, a telcon with Bruce about the Sam situation and going directly to the government, getting my Poly-Sci assignments done through the 12th, save one essay. That essay has been started.

Today

Today is all about surgery. There will be no time for stretches or exercises before heading to the Surgical Center. There, Dr. Higgins will reattach the biceps tendon in my right shoulder that I tore completely while lifting weights on February 14th. It’s highly unlikely that I’ll be able to do much of anything more than rest after surgery.

The Future

The future begins when I wake up early this afternoon and starts moving in earnest with my first rehab session tomorrow. There will be the usual post-op problems of pain and adjustment, and I’m told that shoulder rehab is more unpleasant than most. Thus, I’m more anxious to get it over with, and to achieve that, I must begin.

The prednisone has made my left knee better than it has been in a long time. I have another six days of the steroid, double dose for post-op, starting Wednesday. Will the knee swelling stay down or is this just a tease? The difference is important because I can feel the fantasy of being on the Camino once again bubbling just below the surface.

It is incredible how much, how very much, I want to go back and return to my Camino Journey.
