Daily Success March 7 – Mandatory Rest Day.

Yesterday

Yesterday The surgery on Tuesday, and probably the pain medication, caused me to spend Wednesday sleeping. I would wake up, move around for a few minutes, and be overwhelmed by a need to go back to sleep. That’s how I spent the day, mostly sleeping. And that despite having stopped taking the oxycontin, I’m very mindful of opiate hazards, yesterday morning.

Today

Today is focused on staying awake, working on Poly-Sci, and maybe a little exercise. I’m doing a few physical therapy things Tara assigned yesterday, kind of understand why to do them under the circumstances, but boy are they “as nothing.” No weights, no real stretch sensations.

The Future

The future looks very hopeful. Pain post-surgery has not been bad except for the first night. When I took the second dose of the oxycontin around midnight on the 5/6 it kicked in and, combined with the icepacks resulted in an entirely tolerable pain level. And the pain has decreased since then, probably as a result of Dr. Higgins’ prednisone prescription.

Everything feels better. Knee, legs, the whole package. Despite the obvious post-surgery issues in the right shoulder, all seems quite hopeful at the moment. Knock on concrete …
