Daily Success May 6 – Mandatory Rest Day. The Adventist ER, and all that.
Yesterday
Yesterday was a fiasco. My rib felt kinda-sorta ok when I got up but quickly morphed into a variety of limits and pains that had me asking Jan to take me to the emergency room well before lunch. The ER took the entire day, but the staff was extremely busy and did take pretty good care of me. The pain medication might have been expedited a bit, as the X-Ray technician, while not saying she had read the X-Rays and care was going to be needed, told us early that she had arranged for an ER room, to which I was quickly taken.
The official reading of the X-Ray and the arrival of the doctor took more time and things were “ever slow.”
Today
Today will be spent feeling for the limits on my rib and shoulder. One injury, ok. It happens. A second one, well, the Fates have chosen to pick on me. I was being careful Saturday evening and when I tore my biceps loose back in February.
Bad luck, and all that. Or the Fates are on the hunt and feel I’ve offended them for some reason.
This not having work situation is strange to me. Lacking the usual pressure and discipline throws me off my stride. Add in the effects of aging and it’s clear that my focus should be taking care of me and realizing that the “fifteen seconds or fifteen years” is trending away from the fifteen years. This body does not act like it’s got a spry 93 years old in it.
The Future
The future is cloudy today. Will the rib and medication (side effects) allow me to go to Shae Li’s graduation? To Steve and Becky’s house after that? I sure hope so, but we shall see. Stubbornness may not be enough.
