Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statue

Daily Success May 8 – Mandatory Rest Day. That designation entirely misses the point, but I don’t know what the point really is.

Yesterday

Yesterday can probably be described as the aftermath of some kind of disaster, the disaster (vastly overstated as it was just a small slip and fall) being my fall on Saturday with its accompanying broken rib.

BUT …

That broken rib hurts. It hurts a lot. That leads to pain medications, few of which (ok, only acetaminophen) are on my “just go ahead” list. And acetaminophen doesn’t seem to help. Thus, ibuprofen (a no-no due to my Xarelto prescription) and a variety of opiates come into play. And, of course, doctor’s appointments and trips to the pharmacy.

By the time the day ended, there was no strength left to play poker with my friends.

Today

Today should be at least a little better. A flirtation with Tramadol may not last, however, as it doesn’t seem to provide much, if any, improvement over the hydrocodone that preceded it.

That admitted, some things will get done.

The Future

The future is truly murky. Do I have the strength to spend a couple dozen hours in a car starting Friday? I desperately want to be there for Shae Li’s graduation and visiting Steve and Becky as part of that trip is a treat I’m unwilling to lose. The pain always wins, however …

Part of the future, Tim’s letter to Vince, is slipping for reasons unknown. I’ve got the “un, Tim …” email task.
