Daily Success October 22 is “Very Good”!
Daily Success October 22 benefited from having no interference because of a sense of duty to the customer. I spent the day doing things I care about. Part of that was getting the rest of my July 31st videos looked at, rated, and the good ones uploaded. I started my “My Camino Day July 31 2023” post as well.
And, in addition to good work on Core and Leg strength, I got on the bike for an extended period. Granted, the resistance setting was as far down as it would go, but I was on it long enough to have my pulse rate at a nice, steady 105 for quite a while and work up a substantial, if not extreme, sweat. That’s the first time for those two things in a long time. Walking slowly on the treadmill does not produce either one.
The real time on the bike and my back trouble continues to make walking any distance somewhere between impractical and impossible. Therefore “Yesterday’s Distance” does not have any meaning.
Today
Today’s plan is clear
- Pancakes and bacon brunch with my wife
- The Washington Submissives football game at 1 PM (with mandatory exercise while watching it)
- A Zoom reunion with three friends from college and their wives to finish the day
Will I get my “My Camino Day July 31 2023” post done today? I believe so, but it’s not certain. I do know, however, that a score better than “Failed” or “Disappointing” should be possible.
The Future
In the very short term, I’ll continue icing my back and keep my stretches and exercise adapted to the “new reality” of tight limits on my ability to walk. Then on Wednesday, I will visit with Monika to begin physical therapy. Hopefully she will be able to help resolve whatever is wrong with my back. Kristin certainly identified the location precisely with one of her “does it hurt here” pokes last Thursday. A very loud “OUCH” is probably as good as a simple “yes,” and I was a bit embarrassed to react so strongly. I’m hopeful, however, that the precision of that location for the problem will mean that the medicine will work well this time.
In the longer term, who knows. My back will determine Hospitalero versus Pilgrim. Until that is set, all else is in a holding pattern.
