Daily Success for an elderly peregrino is symbolized by this statueDaily Success September 5 was “Okay,” mostly because I can truthfully claim that my lack of walking distance was due to Sy and his antics. He was troublesome all day and when I walked to the corner beer and wine shop, he was making life noticeably uncomfortable. That walk is on the lighter side of a kilometer (half a mile) round trip and convinced me to do what I wanted to do, which was attend to another very high importance aspect of my life. No loss, except for calories not burned.

Dr. Sheikh’s magic needle cannot arrive soon enough. While the severe sciatica events are not coming frequently, fear of them and mid-size ones are keeping me from doing what I want, mostly walking. The Internet tells me that surgery is probably still over the horizon because the needle works as well as it does.

The biggest frustration is that I certainly know the abuse I’ve put into my back. Being slammed into the ground butt first a couple times during Parafoil testing at Notre Dame all those years ago. Poor body mechanics lifting things too heavy for lifting by one person (a sin I still commit regularly). The damage Gele did when he hit me, and I fell onto my backpack and the rice ballast back in ’19. So, the herniated disk is mostly my fault and totally my responsibility. Whine. Whimper.

But today is a new day and there is much to do with a conference Zoom later this morning to coordinate things with the customer (and soon to be part-time employer).
