My Camino Day July 30
My Camino Day July 30 was another day when videos ruled the roost. I took 14 videos versus 32 photos. That says that the photos have an advantage, but no. Easily half of them were either sad attempts at art or repeated efforts to capture one thing that all ended in failure.
Ah, well.
Early in my day’s hike, and it was a short one, I found myself thinking about Santiago. At that point, Santiago was lying just over the proverbial horizon. The symbolic end of my Journey weighed on me and so I recorded my thoughts as I walked along.
A bit later, I saw a pair of pilgrims ahead of me that appeared to be a grandfather (abuelo) and granddaughter (nieta). I would see them repeatedly through the rest of the day. While we didn’t exchange contact information, they will forever be a cherished ornament to my Camino Journey. La nieta was delightful.
A bit later, I recorded some thoughts in my journal. “I’ve stopped at a bar after only 2.5 miles because it advertised the best tortilla on the Camino, I wanted to put my pack down to remove my long-sleeve shirt, and because I had no reason not to.
“Shortly, I will decide whether the tortilla claim is honest or just hype. The bartender chuckled when I mentioned the sign.”
I did my duty as a serious pilgrim by verifying that the Spanish tortilla served in O Ceadoiro does have a legitimate claim to being the best on the Camino. Of course, I prefer my eggs a bit less done, and that was a factor. This tortilla was also fresh. And this tortilla was delicious.
A but further along my walk that day, I encountered one more burro. It’s almost invisible in the dappled shadow created by the tree’s leaves.
Then, and all too soon, I arrived at Albergue O Trisquel in O Pedorizo, where I would spend the night.
After checking in at O Trisquel, I walked the very short distance to Galaicos for a delicious dinner. Galaicos may be the #10 restaurant in O Pedorizo, but it was great by my (admittedly non-foodie and hungry) standards.
